This is not simply an optional shop compressor. When compressed air is used with the MetalFab, an air dryer is essential. Ordinary compressed air can contain moisture, oil residue, dust, and other contaminants. If those contaminants enter the MetalFab’s air lines and processing head, they can reduce cutting quality, contaminate internal components, and potentially damage the equipment.

The included xTool Air Dryer conditions the compressed air before it reaches your MetalFab. Its heat-exchange system rapidly cools the air, while a three-stage filtration system removes moisture, oil, and fine particles. This helps provide the stable, clean airflow needed for consistent cuts, reduced dross, and better protection for your investment.

A Complete Compressed-Air Solution for MetalFab

Paired with the xTool SaveGas™ nozzle, the compressor-and-dryer system can provide continuous cutting pressure above 87 PSI. According to xTool, this setup can produce burr-free cuts in materials such as:

• Stainless steel up to 4 mm

• Aluminum up to 4 mm

• Brass up to 3 mm

The compressor automatically replenishes the air supply as pressure drops, helping maintain consistent operating pressure throughout the cutting process. A 20-liter tank provides an air reserve, while selectable FAST and SILENCE operating modes allow you to prioritize maximum output or reduced operating speed. For MetalFab cutting, xTool recommends operating the compressor in FAST mode and setting the pressure to 1.0 MPa.

Why the Air Dryer Is Necessary

The xTool compressor is designed to operate together with the air dryer and should not be connected directly to the MetalFab without proper air treatment. The dryer helps:
