A Dedicated 60W MOPA Laser for Professional Metal Engraving and Production

The xTool F2 Ultra Single is a metal-focused laser engraving system equipped with a powerful 60W MOPA infrared laser. It is designed for businesses that primarily work with metal and want professional capabilities such as deep engraving, detailed marking, color engraving, surface texturing, embossing and thin-metal cutting without paying for an additional diode laser they may not need.

This version includes the same 60W MOPA technology used in the dual-laser F2 Ultra but does not include the 40W blue-light diode laser. It is the more specialized choice for jewelry makers, metal personalization businesses, industrial marking operations and production shops that plan to concentrate on metal products.

Important: This Is the Single-Laser Model

The xTool F2 Ultra Single contains one working laser:

60W infrared MOPA laser

It does not contain the 40W blue-light diode laser found in the dual-laser F2 Ultra. Because the diode laser is not included, this model is not intended to provide the same wood, leather, cardboard and acrylic cutting capabilities as the dual-laser version.

Customers who primarily want to engrave and cut non-metal materials should select the dual-laser F2 Ultra or another machine designed for those materials.

What Is a MOPA Laser?

MOPA stands for Master Oscillator Power Amplifier. MOPA technology allows the user to adjust pulse duration and pulse frequency independently, providing greater control over the way laser energy interacts with the surface of a material.

The F2 Ultra’s MOPA laser offers adjustable pulse widths from 2 to 500 nanoseconds and frequencies ranging from 30 kHz to 4000 kHz. This wide adjustment range makes it possible to optimize the laser for different metals, finishes and visual effects.

Compared with a basic infrared marking laser, the MOPA system provides greater control for applications such as:

  • Dark marking on certain metals

  • Color engraving on compatible metals

  • Fine-detail engraving

  • Deep metal engraving

  • Controlled surface texturing

  • Reduced heat impact on delicate items

  • High-contrast marking

  • Engraving coated and plated surfaces

Designed for Metal Processing

The 60W MOPA infrared laser is ideal for engraving and marking materials such as:

  • Stainless steel

  • Aluminum

  • Anodized aluminum

  • Brass

  • Copper

  • Titanium

  • Gold

  • Silver

  • Precious-metal alloys

  • Coated metals

  • Plated metals

  • Selected plastics and industrial materials

The exact appearance and depth of an engraving will depend on the material composition, surface coating, artwork and laser parameters. Testing is recommended before processing valuable or customer-supplied items.

Color Engraving on Compatible Metals

The F2 Ultra Single can produce color effects on certain metals by using precisely controlled laser heat to form microscopic oxide layers on the surface. Different oxide-layer thicknesses interact with light differently, producing visible color variations.

Stainless steel and titanium are commonly used for MOPA color engraving. xTool also identifies copper and other metals as materials that may produce color effects. Results vary by alloy, surface condition and settings, so a parameter test matrix should be completed before beginning production.

Color engraving is ideal for creating:

  • Custom tumblers

  • Jewelry

  • Metal business cards

  • Decorative plates

  • Collector coins

  • Knife handles

  • Tools

  • Artwork

  • Branded promotional products

Color engraving and relief engraving are separate processes and cannot be performed simultaneously in the machine’s dedicated processing modes.

Deep Engraving and Dimensional Relief

With 60 watts of MOPA laser power, the F2 Ultra Single can remove metal to create deep engravings, textured backgrounds and dimensional relief effects.

This capability is valuable for:

  • Coins and medallions

  • Metal stamps

  • Jewelry dies

  • Branding plates

  • Serial plates

  • Tool identification

  • Firearm-accessory personalization

  • Premium metal gifts

  • Industrial components

On officially recommended materials, relief engraving may reach approximately 1 to 2 mm in depth. Final depth depends on the material, artwork, height map, settings and number of passes. Relief processing is intended for flat surfaces rather than curved products.

Thin-Metal Cutting Capability

The 60W MOPA laser can cut selected thin metals. According to xTool’s published guidance, the F2 Ultra Single may cut up to:

  • 2 mm stainless steel

  • 2 mm brass

  • 1 mm aluminum

These figures represent maximum published capabilities rather than guaranteed results for every alloy or finish. Cutting performance depends on the material composition, focus, settings, number of passes and condition of the metal.

The single-laser model is not listed for cutting wood or acrylic because it does not include the 40W diode laser.

High-Speed Galvo Engraving

The F2 Ultra Single can process at speeds up to 15,000 mm per second. Its galvo system uses fast-moving internal mirrors to direct the laser beam across the work area, making it significantly faster for many marking and personalization tasks than a conventional gantry-style laser.

This high-speed processing is especially useful for:

  • Serial numbers

  • Barcodes

  • QR codes

  • Logos

  • Product identification

  • Batch personalization

  • Jewelry engraving

  • Tool marking

  • Metal tags

  • Promotional products

Actual production speed will depend on the material, desired depth, artwork and selected settings.

Precision Camera-Assisted Positioning

The F2 Ultra platform incorporates a dual-camera positioning system that provides a detailed view of the work area. Camera-assisted placement helps operators position designs on small or irregular products, organize multiple items and reduce setup time during batch production.

This is especially helpful when engraving jewelry, business cards, tags, tools and finished customer products where placement accuracy is important.

8.6" × 8.6" Internal Processing Area

The F2 Ultra Single provides an internal work area of:

220 × 220 mm — approximately 8.6 × 8.6 inches

It can accommodate materials up to approximately 150 mm thick, depending on the application and accessory configuration.

Optional Conveyor for Production Work

The optional Auto Streamline Conveyor can expand the machine’s batch-processing capabilities. It is useful for engraving repeated products such as:

  • Metal business cards

  • Tags

  • Utensils

  • Tools

  • Bottle openers

  • Plates

  • Jewelry blanks

  • Promotional items

The conveyor should not be used for through-cutting because the laser could damage the conveyor surface. Batch relief engraving is also not supported while using the conveyor.

Optional Rotary Engraving

A compatible rotary attachment allows the F2 Ultra Single to process cylindrical and curved products such as:

  • Tumblers

  • Cups

  • Rings

  • Bracelets

  • Bottles

  • Cylindrical tools

  • Round containers

The rotary attachment and conveyor cannot be installed and used simultaneously.

Built for Metal-Focused Businesses

The xTool F2 Ultra Single is particularly well suited for:

  • Jewelry businesses

  • Metal engraving shops

  • Industrial identification

  • Tool and equipment marking

  • Promotional-product companies

  • Trophy and award businesses

  • Tumbler personalization

  • Knife and metal-accessory engraving

  • Coin and medallion production

  • Small manufacturing operations

  • Online personalized-product businesses

By removing the diode laser, the single-laser version provides a more focused option for customers whose production is centered on metal rather than wood, leather or acrylic.

Software and Connectivity

The F2 Ultra Single supports:

  • Wi-Fi connection

  • USB connection

  • IP/network connection

  • Offline file processing

  • Touchscreen machine control

The machine includes approximately 7 GB of internal storage and supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

The F2 Ultra Single works with xTool’s supported computer software. It is not currently compatible with LightBurn and does not currently support mobile-device operation.

Compatible Accessories

Compatible accessories may include:

  • Auto Streamline Conveyor

  • Rotary Attachment

  • Footswitch
